"The world is indeed full of peril, and in it there
are many dark places; but still there is much that

is fair, and though in all lands love is now mingled
with grief, it grows perhaps the greater."

This Year So Far

Mormon 8:30
And there shall also be heard of wars, rumors of wars, and earthquakes in divers places.

I have been thinking about the signs of the times since watching the horrible events unfold in Japan. I have put together the following map of events I remember reading about from this year so far. Feel free to click on the pins to see more information. Zoom in and out. Amazing, isn't it? We are only in March, and the map is quite covered. Please leave comments.

It's interesting and this has crossed my mind, as well. None of us know for certain when the end of the world as we know it will happen... or for those of us who are believers, when Christ will return, but I would say that many of these events coincide with what has been written in the book of revelations.

These are scary times to live when you think about it. Forget about natural disasters, we have no control over those, but the political tension, economic instability, and general hostility you see all around the world is of great concern. It appears to be an epidemic of problems that affect all of us.

Furthermore, I find that our society has taken on an attitude that scoffs at the very notion of a loving God and takes every opportunity to deny his existence and ridicule those who believe and follow Him. Regardless of whether you believe, the further we move away from being a culture and society that puts God first, the more we see our nation crumble. I'm sure there are plenty of factors that contribute to this, but there are certain values and morals that are consistently instilled in Judaism and Christianity that build strong foundations for society based on the foundations that are built in each family's home, and it makes all the difference.
